Gardens at Pine Meadow Nursing Home

This project is headed up by Lynn Gaylard and Kim Howson. The Gardens at Pine Meadow Nursing Home was our very first project as a Garden Club and it is one that we hope to continue for many years to come. Each year we clean up the beds in the Spring and the Fall and we plant colourful annuals in the planters and barrels in early summer. These gardens give so much joy to the residents, their families and the staff.

Spring 2025

The gardens at the Nursing Home are looking fantastic.  We had a small crew doing the clean-up and processing of the beds in late May followed by a great crew of planters in early June.  The flowers looked healthy and within no time at all, they were all put into place. We have a crew set up to do the weeding and watering if needed so the gardens should continue to thrive.  If you get the chance, drop by and see them.  I’ve already heard from some of the residents how lovely they look.  It is nice to know that the hard work that goes into these gardens are appreciated.  Lynn and myself would like to thank all the members that helped with this worthwhile project.  We have some more ideas for the fall to improve the gardens even more so stay tuned.

Spring 2024

Wow, what a group!  As first time co-leaders of the Pine Meadow Project, Lynn & I were highly impressed and appreciative of all the help and support we received for this worthwhile project.  I know the residents of Pine Meadow will be thankful and impressed with all of your efforts.

May 10th was the Spring Clean-up day.  We did not know what to expect but the day went off without a hitch.  The gardens were in relatively good shape thanks to all the hard work of the Fall crew.  We had the gardens ready for planting in no time and it was fun!  Lynn Oborne has found a new toy, with the light, battery operated leaf blower.

June 5th was “planting day” and with luck on our side, no rain.  It was a glorious day and everyone came “raring to go”.  The flowers were in great shape and quite colourful. Of course, with all the expertise involved, the planned schemes were not always followed but the results were even better!  What a team!  Everyone worked together and helped each other to create a masterpiece.  We were even able to add some soil and manure to the new raised vegetable gardens that the residents are going to plant.

Fall 2023

On Oct 23rd, here was the cleanup crew at Pine Meadow Nursing Home.  It started off frosty but warmed up nicely.  The annuals were pulled out and lots of raking was done. Mission Accomplished!

Here are our lovely ladies working their magic for the Spring cleanup.
