Pine Meadow Nursing Home Gardens
This project is headed up by Sue Whyte. The Gardens at Pine Meadow Nursing was our very first project as a Garden Club and it is one we hope to be able to continue to maintain for many years to come. Each year we clean up the beds in the spring and the fall and we plant colourful annuals in the planters and barrels in early summer. These gardens give so much joy to the residents, their families and the staff and thankfully we were able to do this in 2020. Working outside gave us the freedom to socially distance safely and still have the gardens looking their best. The Spring clean-up has already started for 2021, so we are well on our way to having the Gardens ready for the residents to enjoy.

The cleanup has begun and we will soon be planting!
Pine Meadow Fall Cleanup October 2019
The Pine Meadow cleanup has been completed for the Fall. It took a few days due to the rain on the appointed day, but the volunteers came through and got it done.

Hello ladies,
Just a quick note to thank you for your ongoing assistance and dedication to maintaining the Pine Meadow Gardens. The day was cool but not windy or wet! Actually a good working temperature. Some of us had a philosophical struggle with the “clean-up” in that we were going against advice received from the guest speaker the night before; leave the plants to die off and replenish the soil or cut and clean. The end result from yesterdays work looks good and we have a soft plan to go forward with in the Spring (in regards to the first garden bed.) Thanks Martine for your patience with your reluctant photograph subjects. I always like the clean up days as it is a way to get some fresh air, exercise and socialization all at the same time.
Thanks again for your assistance.
